Synopsis:
This is for the most part a hybrid of the various versions of Empire Strikes Back, bringing out the best in each. However, there are also a few original changes that aim to subtly modernize the film and bring it in line with the saga, but without changing the tone or feel of the original version. Some improved visual effects, a remastered sound mix, and improved color grading as well as one or two cuts.
Intention:
I wanted the best parts of each version of Empire Strikes Back to be combined into one definitive version that I can watch without missing something from a different version.
Additional Notes:
The sound mix is presented in 2.0 Dolby Surround. (Pro Logic II to be precise) Though it is 2 channel, any audio receiver with a pro logic setting will give you a full surround experience.
Special Thanks:
Telecine_7 for re animating all of the lightsaber blades and blaster bolts, Chainsawash for creating the cover art and for proofwatching a nearly finished version for me, and everyone in the fanedit forums and discord channel that provided input.
Release Information:
- Digital
- Blu-ray
Cuts and Additions:
This is in no way a complete cutlist, just some of the bigguns:
*All lightsaber and blaster bolts re animated (courtesy of Telecine_7)
*New color grade
*Original Wampa scene restored
*Most instances of altered dialogue for the Special Edition were reverted to the original version
*Custom sound mix providing the best of each mix for each scene
*Original Boba Fett voice restored
*Special Edition Emperor Palpatine is used, but edited to be closer to the original dialogue
*Many other restorations of distracting special edition moments
*A Few New Surprises

Brilliant. Possesed has done it again with another deft edit of an absolute classic. I really am taken with the new colour grading and the audio work throughout is lush. This was a joy to watch.
A/V Quality - Wonderful colours, great sound, crystal clear video.
Visual editing - Seamless.
Audio editing - The custom mix for this is spot on.
Narrative - As with A New Hope this edit doesn't alter the narrative in any significant way. The story unfolds like you remember.
Enjoyment - Once again I was lucky enough to have a custom blu-ray disc which added to the experience. I'm very excited to see what Possessed has done with his more radical Return Of The Jedi edit.

Definitely my go to version if I want a "Special Edition" viewing. The color grading is absolutely beautiful. It almost replaces the De-Specialized Edition for me, with the visual and sonic upgrades finally in-tune with the original spirit instead of set against them. Absolutely phenomenal work.

My favorite episodes are the original two. The upgrading of the colors and such with a good tv........ah bliss. But gee let me watch yet another SW edit..lol. Now just wondering when the glut of Mandalorian edits will come out. Again a very enjoyable edit and well worth the time I invested in watching. Looking forward to what comes next from Processed. Thank you for your time and effort

With his edit of 'The Empire Strikes Back', Possessed delivers again. With superb color grading throughout, the movie is very moody and the atmosphere completely immersive, as this movie should be. His care is once again in display, particularly in the audio of his edits, which are always spectacular and absolute standouts. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, I have no criticisms.
Possessed strikes back, and I love it.
