Just like the original Empire strikes back was a radical improvement over its predecessor, this Fanedit gives a major upgrade to his source material without going overboard.
The most annoying features of the SE are removed and the new material is seamlessly integrated into a pretty much perfect product (The battle of hoth never looked more alive than this one).
This is the SE we all deserved and it's my definitive way of watching one of the greatest sci-fi masterpieces of all time.

It's been awhile since I watched this, but wanted to go back and give it the high marks it deserves. The changes are so seamless that they were invisible to those in my watch party who weren't already Star Wars fanatics.

The work done on this movie is absolutely impeccable, it felt like a fresh viewing experience of a movie I've seen throughout my life growing up. The smoothing out of the stopmotion used for the tauntaun and AT-ATs was a great improvement and worthy bit of modernization in this film. Cloud city was looking better than ever as well, especially the balcony scene. Yoda's mouth movements in Dagobah were noticeable, but it wasn't off-putting and I appreciated the effort put into it. I was watching this edit with some friends who were also lifelong star wars fans, and some of them just thought that "the puppets were just that well done back then".
Those are just the major edits I noticed during a casual watch, the other improvements can definitely be felt but are almost impossible to pick out due to how well they are implemented. I truly believe Andywan's edits are the definitive way to enjoy the original trilogy, and I can't wait for him to release his episode III edit.

The Empire Strikes back is my favourite movie of all time. I grew up with it and I have watched it countless times. My first fanedit of this was the infamous 'Despecialized Edition' by Harmy. There was no risk there because it was the same movie but with blu-ray quality. But this, this was something else! This edit made the impossible and improved an excellent film even more!

I simply can't wait for Adywan to do the same with the other two movies in HD, I saw somewhere that he is working on it!

I can't recommend this enough guys! Just see it and I guarantee you it will be your go-to version in the future!

Thank you Adywan for all your hard work and thanks to anyone who read my review!

empire is in my top 5 movies, ever. and adywan's has become my definitive version. the sfx inclusions are incredible, and subtle, which is a must when we muck with pieces of film history like this imo. the level of craft here is extraordinary.

the real prize for me is the synthesising of the best parts of the theatrical ESB and the special editions: empire with ian mcdiarmid, jason wingreen, "bring my shuttle.", and the bespin balconies is magical. thank you adywan!

my only complaint is that the changes to yoda's face bother me. the degobah sequences are the best part of this film and i love the rough-around-the-edges stuff for yoda. this is the only change that isnt seamless and takes me out of the movie.
