Synopsis:
This edit presents the entire Moriarty arc of BBC's Sherlock in one film-- not dispersed over four episodes as in the original. London's most famous "amateur" detective gets his regular routine of solving kidnappings and thefts rattled when faced with a new game of terror: he is given a limited amount of time to solve five challenges by an unknown madman or innocent people will be blown up. As he races against the clock, Sherlock and Watson realize that they are moving deeper into an international network of crime and terrorism centered around one elusive individual: Moriarty. Eventually the game threatens to cost Sherlock everything: his career, his friends, and life... you'll be caught up in the action as soon as it kicks in and its a non stop ride from there.
Intention:
I enjoyed the Moriarty arc from Sherlock, a great show in its own right, but I never liked the unresolved cliffhanger at the end of the Series 1 finale which was left unaddressed until the Series 2 finale-- there were problems with continuity by doing this, in my opinion, as it made Moriarty suddenly become irrelevant for two whole episodes. This cut presents the story in one go. Moriarty is a threat from start to finish. It combines "The Great Game" and the "Reichenbach Falls" to give the audience a roller coaster ride that will thrill and entertain both newcomers and fans alike.
Additional Notes:
Combines "The Great Game" and "Reichenbach Falls" episodes

Cuts and Additions:
--Reichenbach falls post credits sequence (montage of Sherlock solving crimes) moved to start of the Great Game, before he shoots the wall in boredom. This establishes him as a great detective who people admire (and cops envy)
-cut Janus cars phone call clue (Sherlock doesn't need help solving this mystery)
-removed Watson's question in the coffee shop "Do you think it's Moriarty?"
-cut part of Watson's interview with the tv star victims brother as well as Sherlock researching her show
-cut part of Watson interviewing Andrew West's fiancee
-cut scene of Watson discovering West was into astronomy
-truncated first scene of Sherlock tracking Golem (there's no chase. It appears as if they track him to the planetarium)
-shortened planetarium fight with Golem
-removed way over the top music after art gallery owner says "Moriarty"
- cut brief scene of Sherlock explaining the missile defense plans to Watson as they try to break into the brother's apartment
- Cut Moriarty's second entrance to the swimming pool (I felt the second entrance and the gun to the vest was just to create a cliffhanger at the end of season 1-- it was also inconsistent with his earlier exit , which was perfectly fine and threatening. )
-pool scene cuts to tower of london heist
-Watson saying "he's back" is cut
-court song truncated
-jury is out scene cut
-the whole "terrorists moving next door" subplot removed-too complicated, no real tension, and ultimately goes nowhere (no Mycroft debriefing watson, no terrorist saving Sherlock only to be shot)
-the search of the kidnapped children's home shortened
-the kids chomping on chocolate with horrific sound effects removed
-Lestrade referring to Sherlock as "csi baker street" removed
-the search for the bug as well as Lestrade asking Holmes to come quietly removed
-the entire reporter and "Moriarty was an actor" subplot removed. This just seemed too fantastic to me and out if character for Moriarty. I mean if he was that powerful why would he have to pretend to be a beat down actor to convince a two bit reporter that sherlock was a fraud? Too far fetched..
-Watson's talk with Mycroft about Moriarty shortened
-all references to James brooks or terrorists removed from last scene.
-Watson meeting with psychiatrist removed.
-cut Janus cars phone call clue (Sherlock doesn't need help solving this mystery)
-removed Watson's question in the coffee shop "Do you think it's Moriarty?"

This is what every TV-to-movie edit should aim for.
Just pick up an arc of the story that you find the most interesting and use the source to build a movie around that.
Don't just try to mash a whole season to 3 or fewer hours.
If you have never seen Sherlock and don't have the time this is perfect, and if you saw Sherlock and want to rewatch the Moriarty arc this is perfect.

I enjoyed watching this edit from start to finish. Highly recommendable for every Sherlock fans. What this edit achieved was to highlight the intensity of the rivalry between Sherlock and Moriarty, in a way that is much better than what was presented originally as an episodic structure. Especially considering 2 filler episodes, in a sense, between each 'Moriarty arc' episodes.

Everything about the Moriarty arc was done better than the original in this edit. There were only a couple edits I thought could look a little better. Overall, this was a great edit, and very enjoyable.

Seriously solid combination of the two Moriarty centered episodes. Cutting out the filler was smart and cutting certain aspects (like the neighbours who are spies, the cliffhanger in the great game, and Moriarty posing as an actor). Altogether, a solid edit to watch and very well done!
Great job, ranger613! I'm a huge Sherlock fan and enjoyed this edit, as much that I made a sequel and a sequel to that, which hopefully go well with this. (The Return of Sherlock and The Vow of Sherlock)

What a wonderful edit! Superb execution with stellar edits, both video and audio. No small feat, condensing six episodes into 2h30-ish minutes of cohesive narrative. It works well and I really have no larger points of criticism. The only thing I noticed and wanted, was a slight breather between the pool and the Crown jewel heist. A few seconds of time lapses over London or similar. Other than that, this edit was enjoyable from start to finish.
Highly recommended, but as wraith mentioned in his review, some concentration is required if you want to follow the narrative. It is indeed dense, but by no means irksome.
Great work, ranger613!
