Great fun. Gets you straight into the dazzling cyberworld, makes the movie more of a redemption story about fatherhood than nonsensical stuff about "bio-digital jazz, man," providing a deft combination of really stunning visuals and a decent characters. Drops nearly 30 minutes of bloat, sequel-seeding and nonsense, and you will not miss one bit of it.

Personally, I'd have kept more of Clu's speech to the troops ( as this does touch on the issues of fatherhood), and removed as much Zuse as possible (not least, his capering around like a half-witted baboon during the fight at the End of the Line club), and trimmed Flynn senior's faux-80s jargon (like, man),

But those are personal prefs.

This is a super-professional, slick job. Watch it!

PREAMBLE:

This was the first time I slept through a movie in theatres. On and off grant you, but LARGE ZZZzzz.

I watched the Blu Ray when it landed....Torture really.

NOW THIS is a different kettle of fish!

I won't spoil it for others, but this feels like the TRON sequel we should have got! The makers were obviously too enamoured with the technology and pasted it all over while ignoring the narrative drivers, which are frankly just too padded out to keep you caring, engaged or (in my case) awake. That is not the case here. In fact, I could not really tell what went missing since those were the parts I obviouly slept thru.

Technically, there is nothing to faulty here. The open is a tad tight, but that is a minor quibble and frankly, I mays as well cut up the blu ray since it will never be re-watched. I almost knocked a star off for enjoyment to the residual trauma of the original, but credit where credit is due.

THIS IS THE GO TO version.

Bravo sir!

Ok so I didn't even realize how annoying the things were that were cut out of the movie. No more spooky de-ageing. The main character gets just a sprinkle of backstory and then BAM he's doing COOL STUFF in a COOL WORLD. It leaves the essential Tron stuff in place while trimming the fat and it's the default version I would show all of my friends at movie night.

Thanks so much for the edit. Amazing.

Absolute masterpiece of an edit! The quality of the changes really transformed a mediocre movie that disappointed me 11 years ago into an actual good narrative of Kevin Flynn coming to terms with himself and his own failures. This tone change shifts the entire "Tron: Legacy" film from being a cash grab attempt into a solid sequel — which brings the message of the original movie full circle and ends on the logical conclusion of acceptance of mistakes and growth past them.

I have been a massive Daft Punk fan from when their Homework album was out in 1997; and I loved the original "Tron" movie. In fact, I don't think I'd have the career I have without films like it interesting me in computer science. Over a decade ago, when I heard the announcements that a new Tron movie was coming out and Daft Punk was doing the film score, I just lost my mind and couldn't wait to see it. After watching the original theatrical cut in theaters though... I didn't know how to feel afterwards. The music was great, but everything else just felt so "off" and just disjointed and sloppy. It was like the movie didn't really know what it wanted to be. This edit really changes all of that. I sincerely wish that this edit was what the original release was more like.

I highly recommend that everybody watch this edit!

I haven’t watched TRON: Legacy in a few years, so I was excited to take this for a spin. I enjoyed this so much more than the original movie. It was amazing how Sam’s character development was so concisely executed, and getting into the game world ASAP. From there, I couldn’t pinpoint the changes since I hadn’t watched the movie in so long, but nothing at all felt “off”, jarring, out of sequence, etc. I’ve doubled back to peruse the full list of changes and I certainly do not miss anything that has been cut. This edit is THE definitive version, and I’ll be watching it again and again. Great job!!!
