Editing Details:
This version aims at delivering a darker, scarier, more visceral and serious film, more in tone with the original Nightmare On Elm St. 1984 opus. Over 120 edits were executed to make the film faster-paced and more violent. More than twenty minutes were removed [lagging shots, cheesy dialogues, bad SPFX,..], altering the overall tone of the film dramatically. Some scenes have been recut [ie the highway scene is now completely "Freddy-free"], others have been completely eliminated. A new intro has been created. All of Freddy's lines have been removed, making him the dark and scary character he once was.

The whole edit has also been color corrected : Freddy's dream world now looks more like the burning, claustrophobic inferno we previously caught sight of in "Nightmare 3 : Dreams Warriors", while all the scenes set in reality now have a more cinéma-vérité look fitting the very theme of the film. A brand new 5.1 audio mix features alternate sound effects, while musical cues and pieces from the other films of the Nightmare series have been used for the new score. The end credits, also musically altered with two fan-pleasers, include some rare on-set footage and alternate scenes embedded within the credits.

This fan-edit is respectfully dedicated to the memory of Wes Craven.

“The fans want Freddy back,” the producer informs Heather.
Yeah, maybe, but they probably did not want this stinker.
Even the gifted Dr. Sapirstein cannot completely remove the hog whiffle from this one.
Purging the screeching Dylan would have been the first and best step.
There are countless trims in this, which hurry the pace.
There is less Freddy, however, and more Dylan, who is annoying beyond belief.
(I am not a fan of the “child in danger” cliché. In US movies, kids are never killed.)
The cutting is flawless. The sound mix is loud, bordering on bombastic at times.
Best part of this edit – putting Dokken back in.
Freddy curious, stick with #1 and #3.

I thought this was absolutely awesome! I think "New Nightmare" is the second best NOES film and this close to being on par with the first. This fanedit trims the fat and strengthens an already great move. My only critique is that the interview footage at the very beginning is such lower quality than the rest of the film it can't help but feel tacked on, especially for the zoomed in shots.

Highly recommended for fans of Nightmare on Elm Street.
