I have always held what seems to be the prevailing opinion that James Mangold's The Wolverine was one terrible final act away from greatness. This edit proves my faith right. By keeping the focus on Logan's story and rebirth it makes a much stronger second act in the story of The Wolverine that makes me regret that it didn't get a true sequel before the story's end. The edit obviously can only do so much - using a mention of studying biology to explain away some plot details and some dialogue removal to somewhat explain away the rest. It is however, much better than the studio mangled theatrical cut and will be the version of this movie I revisit in the future. There's only one thing that I wish made it into this version - the alternate ending!

I want to start with a major shout out to Wakeupkeo for picking this up when the original editor Silver Screen Samurai was unable to continue due to life happening. It shows a lot of character to reach out and help someone finish a dream project.

As for the edit, the quality was pretty flawless. I felt the removal of Viper really helped the flow of the movie and gives the movie a much needed streamline approach.

The V2 of this edit helps the ending quite a bit too. The Ninjas feel a bit more in place and not out of nowhere like in V1. I would say this is a recommend for sure.

For the content that was available, this was a great edit. The ending was a little abrupt for obvious reasons, but at the end of the day this is now my preferred way to watch this movie. Thank you.

This Fanedit is my go go version to me, 'cause I remember watching the Theatrical thinking that like ''there some flaws but it looks nice''.
But then when I read a information about James Mangold original idea for this movie, I felt suprised, that the Villians, the viper, and the Mariko's grandfather (being a villiain too) was like any kind of Superhero movie would be, but for him, it wasn't, and I kinda like his original Idea, it make me imagine a while watching the Theatrical and Extended Cut a whole different film with his Idea.

Now the visual still looks great, the Audio it needs a little work on that, but anyway, looks good, the narrative with this version looked interested, except the ending, I prefer the alternative ending where Yukio gives Logan the Wolverine suit, you know what I mean? Still, looks good, and I don't care what anyone says, James's Idea looks much better without villians, and I wish James could watch his idea coming to light, thanks to us Fanedits.

So that's why this version is a go go to me, I definetly recommend this edit, it looks great.

Never seen either of the official cuts, bought the Blu-ray for the sole purpose of seeing this edit after watching Wraith's "Requiem War" distillation of the original trilogy about a year ago. From the cutlist it sounds as either this or Wakeupkeo's newly-produced "Mangold Extended Edit" will be my go-to versions, it's so refreshing to have a more grounded story than that typical of the genre nowadays, which I been weary of for a good few years.

Technical aspects all looked and sounded good, great quality to my eyes and ears (LQ v3 with 6 GB file and 317 kbps audio) with no ugly cuts that I noticed. The only thing I was a little surprised at was the relatively quick conclusion to the final fight, but maybe that is result of being conditioned to examples that occupy much more significant fractions of a film's runtime.

Thanks to both the creators for putting this together, seems to me so far that this franchise is best experienced through edits!
