After the first WW movie, this sequel was disappointing. Weak story, so much fluff, unconvincing SFX, not utilizing the opportunity of having fun with 1980's music (though I hadn't realized that last one until I saw Wakeupkeo's edit).

This edit convincingly improves on the original. The story is tighter, the runtime feels appropriate, the added music is truly Excellent.

Audio and video editing is smooth. The sound replacement is truly next level (for us faneditors who are limited to working with post-mix audio). For those interested in the technical effort involved with all the sound replacement, check out the Unscored Workprint in its separate forum thread.

Narrative and enjoyment still suffer from the poor original, It's much improved, but won't get re-watched often.

Wow! That was a lot of FUN!!!!

I am in the minority camp that actually enjoyed WW84. It was a flawed flick, but still found it enjoyable and it spoke to my sense of super-heroics. But with that said, I do agree that for an adventure set in the 80's, it was seriously lacking in the classic tunes department. (I had the same issue with Captain Marvel)

But that shortcoming has been fantastically corrected in this fan edit! And again, WOW! The time, energy, skill and patience that went into weaving this new pop rock soundtrack into the already existing movie tapestry boggles my mind! Bravo!!! Standing ovation!!!

Overall, the movie looks great. The cut work and restructured scenes, creating a slightly different, deeper narrative, are all very well done.

A most excellent good time was had, indeed!

Thumbs Up! :)

This is a remarkable edit, as it took one of the worst movies I've seen in recent memory and turned it into something quite enjoyable.

Adding the score that, frankly, should've been there in the first place really makes the movie pop. Why set it in the 80's, film it like a campy 80's movie, and then have Hans Zimmer do an overwrought score for it? Never made sense to me. This is the way it should've been to begin with. It did get maybe a tad too "needle dropy" in places, that Suicide Squad effect, but it works well here because it's fun and fits the overall style of the movie.

I didn't miss anything that was cut, and the shorter runtime makes for a breezy, fast paced movie. This movie was originally a total slog to get through, but at under 2 hours, it's now just right. I also didn't miss the opening flashback sequence. Though cool, it didn't tonally fit the movie to begin with, and really doesn't fit with the changes that were made. A solid cut.

My only criticism is that I don't think the editing of Steve Trevor's arrival quite works. I don't know how else it could've been done save for some deep fake trickery, but it's the only cut in the movie that feels like a cut. It just doesn't flow naturally like the rest of the changes do, but again, it's a tricky cut and the payoff for it is worth it.

That minor quibble aside, this is a stellar fanedit. I can't overstate how much this improved the movie for me. I never wanted to see WW84 again, and now it's one of the better DCEU films. Bravo!

Stellar job at adding the new music while still making the dialogue cut through in the mix! Wish it had been in 5.1 with an LFE so I could rock out harder with Judas Priest. Phenomenal job on the movie title graphics as well as the end credits which were redone from scratch. Quite a labor of love there. I was not so enamored (and puzzled) with/by the after credits scene at the very end, but hey it was just for fun. I'm not a fan of the source. Given that, this is a fun edit. A lot more fun than the original movie--the novelty just wore thin for me after nearly an hour as the source material takes itself far far too seriously. At that point I should have turned it into a drinking game where you take a shot every time someone makes a wish..

Edit:
I've updated the enjoyment rating on this. For me "enjoyment" comes from improving the original:

Below is how I view enjoyment:

Did this edit improve the original source(s)?
Not at all or made worse = 1
Some minor improvement = 4
Moderate improvement mostly by removing (not changing/adding) content = 6
Creative additions or changes with much improvement = 8
Transformative creativity with vast improvement = 10

Based on the above, I score the enjoyment at an 8.

I enjoyed WW84 considerably more than the average moviegoer apparently did. To me it felt a lot like a throwback to those boldly random Silver Age stories from DC, and the closest thing to the Donnerverse that the DCEU has given us so far (I guess that if your idea of a DC movie is the grim downer Snyder style, you'll of course hate this one). There was, however, considerable room for improvement. The script did reek of first draft, the editing reeked of assembly cut, the nonsensical plot holes were there, all true. And all, all that was fixable at least (Asteria's armor is only there to sell t̶o̶y̶s̶ adult collectible limited edition action figures, for starters), is fixed here, and then some. The 80s songs, all awesomely picked, are just the icing on the cake. And I particularly appreciate a certain easter egg that fans of the original incarnation of Maxwell Lord (before DC ruined the character forever) will find to be a wish come true without resorting to the Dreamstone.

I suppose that if you absolutely hated this movie unedited, you'll only hate it a bit less in this form. But if you liked it at least a bit, this will probably become your default version, as it has become mine.

Overall, creatively and technically this edit is indeed excellent. There's nothing bogus about it. Watch this edit, party on, and be excellent to each other!
