Synopsis:
This is an odd film that I didn't particularly enjoy in its original form, but I discovered some moments that I thought really worked, and managed to stitch those threads into a short film that I quite enjoy. It's a bit abstract, but feels like a complete moment in time - an experience of the main character's time at a health and wellness spa, and some of the people he encounters there, and small insights into his life. It becomes more about the camaraderie between Michael Caine and Paul Dano than Caine and Keitel in the original.
Release Information:
Digital
Cuts and Additions:
Due to the depth of the cuts it's hard to give a list of what was cut since it's most of the film, but these are the major bullet points

+ kept many of the spa flavor scenes
+ kept much of the conversation between Michael Caine and Paul Dano, but left PD's acting role vague, not showing the ultimate Hitler transformation
+ kept some of the music/king story, although the way it's resolved is changed
+ kept the monk but got rid of all the dream sequence stuff
+ kept much of Miss Universe but got rid of the dream sequence
- cut all but one of Harvey Keitel's scenes
- cut most of Rachel Weisz's scenes
