Synopsis:
Lara Croft, daughter of Lord Henshingly Croft, was born in England on February 14th 1968. She was raised to be an aristocrat from birth, and had lived in luxury aloof from the world at large. From the age of 3 Lara began her learning with a private tutor. Lara attended Wimbledon High School for girls at the age of 11. At 16 her parents decided she should broaden her education by studying at Gordonstoun, one of Britain's most prominent boarding schools. One day Lara came across a copy of National Geographic on the hall table. The front cover featured a familiar face, her father. A respected archaeologist, Lord Henshingly Croft would go on to lecture at Lara's school to her pupils & teachers alike. The experience had a profound effect on Lara, triggering a desire for travel to remote locations in search of adventure, like her father before her. Lara’s father (and mother) had become the main inspirational figures of her archeological pursuits. Sadly, her father wasted their family fortune in search of the legendary tusk of Ganesh. He never found it.
Intention:
This edit is based on SweetLife's modded playthrough of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy on YouTube. The modded version is called Tomb Raider Lara Croft Classic Edition. It replaces the main protagonist’s character model with one that looks like Lara Croft. The original character of Chloe (now Lara), who is voiced by Claudia Black, sounds near-British. In real life Black is Australian. The accent works for Lara in this edit. It comes off as English to the casual observer I think. But this mod and playthrough do not change the dialogue to fit with Lara Croft’s character, nor the logos or titles. The original character is constantly being called by the name Chloe and referenced about her Indian ancestry. I used vocalremover.org, elevenlabs.io, and Audacity (also: Photoshop and EbSynth) to fix these, along with reused and new sound effects to blend the sound together. There were 25 voice lines in the footage I used that needed replacing. Using the mentioned programs, and my NLE, I changed them all to now mention Lara Croft. Multiple character’s voices had to be isolated and edited to correct all 25 voice lines. The goal was to replace all dialogue related to the original main character with dialogue mentioning Lara Croft, as well as replace any dialogue that wouldn’t fit with Lara’s character. The original character in the unmodded videogame is part Indian. I cut all dialogue mentioning this. The final touch was to replace the finale music track with a track that fits with the Tomb Raider film franchise from the early 2000s.
Additional Notes:
Time Cut 1.96 hours (nearly two hours) Software used: Blender, Audacity, Photoshop, EbSynth, vocalremover.org, elevenlabs.io
