Time Travel Consecution, Episode 1

The number of times I've needed that time travelling telephone box during exam season... Anyway, this was a technically solid edit, Narrative mostly made sense, although not sure what happened after Billy the Kid walked in. This looks like a pretty stupid but funny film, and the edit certainly captures that. These guys must be related to the dudes from Dude Where's Your Car. Or maybe all stoner types sound like this in film.

On a side note, big fan of the old FE logo that appears at the end, hadn't seen that one before.

Way cool, junior
Well thought out and executed “Cliff’s Notes” version of the duo’s adventures.
Perfect for school slackers who only have fifteen minutes to devote to film class.
A bit jumpy at times, but not too much so. Besides, one is literally propelled at breakneck speed to pay much attention to tiny flaws.
There is a palpable joie de vivre electricity in this edit which is infectious.
I like to imagine John Wick watching this during his more thoughtful moments.

Wayne was a good editor, and a FE asset, but I understood how the more professional world beckoned.
For the curious, Wayne’s pitch for Hitchhikers is still viewable.

A good effort at taking what amounts to "What if Doctor Who's protagonist was actually a pair of American slackers?" AKA Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and condensing it into a short film. Overall it works, but there were a couple of minor issues I couldn't help noticing - things like the new text for the title sequence not being quite the right colour, for example.

Narratively, I think it works, although it's to be expected that the film loses some of its charm by being distilled down to its core plot.

If you liked the original film, you'll almost certainly enjoy this version.

Very nice looking.

Visual Editing: 9
Transition VisFX spilling out of the film's scope frame in the first few seconds was unpleasant to see. That aside the editing is solid.

Audio Editing: 7
Some awkwards fades, abrupt cuts and missing foley elements detract but the musical montage is loads of fun.

Narrative: 7
If you don't know the original film, a lot of things won't make sense, like the entire setup of the concept at the start. After that it's a nice slim down of the plot.

Enjoyment: 7
I don't know. The rush to get through so much plot in so little time felt like there was little room for enjoying the fun parts of the original movie. Classic comedy lines are trimmed throughout just to get to the next scene quicker.

Editing was a little rough, but a nice removal of the sillier bits to get at the heart of the story.

Totally tubular edit! This is basically the core of the film condensed into 15 minutes. It's no small feat and for the most part done seamlessly. It's hard for me to divorce myself of the source knowledge but I think this would still work and be decently funny. As a fan of the theatrical cut, this was a really fun, condensed alternate viewing. Good job!

Nice work condensing Bill and Ted's into a short, its quite a feat. Obviously a lot of material is lost, but this short is hilarious nonetheless. A few rough transitions occasionally but nothing too distracting. Overall, this is a great edit to visit for fans and newcomers will find something enjoyable too. Great job wayne workman

Wayne Workman does an excellent job of condensing the plot of the first Bill & Ted movie down to 15 minutes.

Unfortunately, a lot of the humor and the personality of the film got lost in the process. For instance, the hilarious interplay between Socrates and Billy the Kid is completely gone here. Also, cccasionally, a scene would have to jump ahead rather abruptly and obviously to get to the next plot point.

Mind you, I say all of this with sympathy. I tried unsuccessfully to prepare a Doctor Who edit for this consecution, and found myself running into the exact same problems: To get the story under 15 minutes, the cuts become rather merciless.

My favorite sequence in this short came with the revised montage of Bill & Ted picking up the historical figures set to the film's song "Two Heads are Better Than One." Based on a similar sequence in the original movie, Wayne expands the montage to cover a lot more historical figures. It's seamless, and if I weren't so familiar with the movie already, I never would have known that this wasn't how it was originally done.

Wayne keeps all the major plot points intact and tells a coherent story, which are two big plus factors. He skips over the introduction of the princesses, but as the short came to a conclusion, I realized that it wasn't necessary. The females worked just fine at the end, since they're wearing modern clothes by then. It seemed like they were just a couple of people who had joined the band.

If you're looking for a quick 15-minute reprise of the movie, this is a good way to go, and it will probably work better if you haven't watched it hundreds of times like I have, and therefore could more instantly spot the changes. My comments above reflect the harshness of the 15-minute constraints, and should not be taken as disparanging against Wayne's editing skills. He's clearly quite talented.

Party on, Wayne! ... Whoops, wrong franchise. :)

Four score and...twelve minutes ago. We, your peers, embarked on a most tubular fanedit, conceived by our new friend wayneworkman12. A stirring soundtrack accompanies a nifty assembly of the historical icons with the occasional abruptness in narrative jumps, but it serves the story and cuts to the chase in one quick sitting. Could have possibly went for a half-hour trim but there you go. Be excellent to each edit, and party on dude
